The world is Dilbert...

So, in addition to little things (like our termination packets including 'Exit Interview' forms with questions like 'Why did employee seek other employment?' and 'What could Quicksilver have done to encourage employee to stay?') which made today feel Dilbert-like, there were other bizarre moments.

We found out that the people who were in Japan seeking funding are not being flown back until they get funding, or until the company folds entirely. Of course, no one bothered to tell the folks who were in Japan this... the marketing guy for our department found out secondhand that we'd all been let go; he couldn't get onto the work network and no one was talking to him, so he sort of freaked out over whether or not anyone was going to be reimbursing him for his hotel fees, or buying him an airline ticket home or anything. (His summary was: "Very confused. I'm going to go drink sake. Lots and lots of sake.")

We ALSO found out that supposedly funding will come in within six weeks and 'everyone will be hired back'. Huh. Six weeks without income, and no severance pay? I think it will be interesting to see how many are around to be hired back if the mythical funding does come through. :P

Big hugs...

Oof. Termination packets are always bizarre. When I got laid off (with a third of the company), it was so surreal... most of the ex-employees wound up at a pub near the office, and someone (snitch) called a Post reporter. Odd. Very odd. I felt like I was sleepwalking. The point of which is to say I sympathize completely and if there's anything I can do, just holler. *HUG*
