David Gemmell, author of classic fantasy like Legend, Lord of the Silver Bow, The Swords of Night and Day, and many others, passed away this morning at the age of 57, as reported by the BBC. He'd apparently recently had heart surgery, was on the mend, and then just keeled over.
Unlike some of the obits I've posted, David Gemmell isn't someone I knew, even in passing from online. But he's a prolific and fairly influential fantasy writer, and the fantasy world is the poorer for his loss.
He's received a rose on the SFF.net memorial bar, and there is a thread in remembrance on the obituaries group.
