[Music] Happiness

My dad gave me a copy tonight of '1' -- which was, of course, immediately sucked into both iTunes and from there, my iPod.

The reason this is a cause for such happiness -- other than general 'yay, more Beatles in my iPod!' -- is that I now finally have a copy on something other than cassette tape of what is quite possibly my favorite Beatles song (and, for that matter, quite possibly one of my favorite songs of all time).

The answer to 'which song is that' is, of course, in the 'current music' field.

You know, any time you want anything by the Beatles, I am an obsessive collector. :)
How DID I know that you'd comment on this one? ;)
zombiechick has a longstanding habit, any time I say something blindingly obvious, of replying, "so, I also hear you like the Beatles."
Yes, I can see how that would work. :)
Yay! And hee. I still have a box out in our garage that I've been carrying around for like twelve years now. It's full of cassette tapes and many of them for that same reason - I can't find them anywhere and to lose my only copy?! Riiiight. Anyhow - that's awesome :) Are the words all rubbed off of your cassette too? :D
One of these days I need to get some Beatles on MY iPod. :)
I wouldn't have pictured that as your favorite Beatles song. It's not that it doesn't fit. It just...I don't know. It doesn't seem to capture more than a portion of you. To me, anyway.
Well, I do like the majority of Beatles stuff. Just that one has always held a special place in my heart.

Out of curiosity, what would you have thought would be my favorite?
Hadn't thought about it too much, but possibly Rocky Raccoon, for the storytelling aspect of it.

Mine is a three way tie between Yesterday, Octopus's Garden, and Maxwell's Silver Hammer (yeah, the last one was obvious...)
Two of your three are definitely in my top 10, one of them is in my top five. But sorry, Rocky Raccoon doesn't even come close to taking the top spot from 'Let It Be.' :)
I tend to vote for obscure and vastly underrated songs like "I'm Looking Through You" and "Cry Baby Cry." But the truth is, "Revolution" has always been my #1.

...actually, that's not entirely true. When I first got into the Beatles, as a kid, I couldn't stop playing "Help!" over and over again. But I think I wore it out.
"Help!" is a great song for just bouncing around and singing along with; I really do like it. But again, it just doesn't come close to replacing 'Let It Be' for me. I can't even really articulate why that's probably my favorite song, but there's something about it that's always stood out.

But yes, "Cry Baby Cry" is vastly underrated. :(
"Let It Be" is lovely, it cannot be denied. The first time I watched the "Beatles Anthology" all the way through, I got to the end, where they're breaking up, and they played that song, and I cried.
As for me, when I got into the Beatles as a kid... my favorite album, hands down, was 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.' But which song was my favorite off of the album really changed from week to week. :)
It's "A Day In the Life" and then it's everything else, for me. :)
