[Health] Influenza...

Wow. Murphy's out enforcing his law enthusiastically today.

Felt yucky last night, today I woke up with a fever of 103 degrees, to find that Noderunner had keeled over. I was receiving e-mails and text-messages and frantic IMs from my users, left and right. Had to muddle through getting it back up while bleary; turned out to be a dead IDE controller. Bleh.

Using Aleve and taking a cold bath, I managed to get the fever down to 100, and went to the doctor. Doctor says it's the worst case of influenza she's seen in 'a long time,' and promptly put me on antivirals. Says it's just this side of pneumonia. (How on earth did this come on so quickly?)

The fever's already back up to 102. And I'm supposed to fly to New York on a biz trip on Thursday... :(

You know I'm just a phone call away. And, after having already suffered through the flu just last week, I SHOULD be safe from your cooties. :) Let me know if there's anything I can do.
You poor thing! Hang in there, and if you *do* fly on Thursday, make sure you take a decongestant, so that the gunk doesn't get driven deep into your ears!

Mindy, who pushes echniacea on friends - it doesn't make the bugs go away after they've hit full-force, but it seems to make the symptoms less bad
I usually take echinacea anyway; my mom was helping to run a natural-foods supermarket chain for most of my childhood, and I thus developed a few habits about herbal supplements. :)

And it looks, alas, like I'm not going to New York. The doctor says I can expect a week of this... ugh.
Look at it this way - New York (and here, in D.C.) is expecting lousy weather. Convince yourself that you lucked out :-)

Feel better, and try to rest!
Get better soon!
The flu is an asskicker. :(
Hrm. If that's the worst, this doctor hasn't seen much in the way of a flu now has she. You're running at about normal. I know you feel icky, but drink lots of fluids and turn your room temperature up higher. Medication will only take care of your symptoms. Gummi worms will make you feel better. But extremes in temperature will help your body fight the flu. It's one of the few things that will. You'll sweat a lot tonight, then take a cold shower in the morning; it'll get you through the next day.
