[Politics] Ohio Voter Challenges

Partially on the grounds that the group America Coming Together (ACT) has been aiding the Democratic party in voter fraud -- the G.O.P. claims that ACT phone folks have been deliberately contacting Republican voters to give them incorrect polling location information -- the Ohio Republican party has been granted the right to challenge voters at the polls.

Never mind that even if their claims /are/ somehow true and ACT is giving out false polling information (which I don't really believe), the Republicans have done things like send out fliers on fake 'official' letterhead, stating that due to record voter turnout Election Day has been extended by one day; the fliers note that registered Republicans should report to their polling places on Tuesday, and registered Democratic voters on Wednesday. (Gee, I wonder which votes they wanted not to get counted?)

This election is one of the most hateful I've seen. I really hope there's a decisive victory tomorrow; I don't think I could cope with weeks and weeks of uncertainty and confusion and yet more hate as the election results get debated in the courts.

I agree. Want this DONE with. Tomorrow night, not six months from now.

I am really ready for it to be over too. *sigh*

Me too!

As a voter living in Ohio, (yes, I voted today for the first time in 16 years) I'm ready for this all to be over as well. Though in my little neighborhood, the worst thing about the whole experience was the abysmal parking in the elementary school parking lot. The rest was smooth as silk and caffeineferret and I were in and out in about 25 minutes, including line-standing time.
I don't get it. If it's illegal for one side to commit fraud, why is it legal for the other side?
It wont be over today, and we all know it. There wont be a decisive victory, and even if there is... The loser will use all the cases of fraud being committed as reasons for WHY they should keep fighting it.

Gore peeved me when he sued 4 years ago. Nixon, who knew he lost because of voter fraud and knew he had a right to challenge the election results, chose not to do so because it would be bad for the country. There was TREMENDOUS damage done to our faith in the political process by the last election, and we became the laughing stock of the world.

This year? Its only going to get worse. Mark my words.

I wish it wasn't like this, because- seriously, I'm already tired of it now. I want the election over and done with and decided upon so that we can move on with the results.. but it isn't going to happen, so I'm not gonna dream. :(
