Aunt Sally says that there are four fireflies that have been in her yard for about a week now. They are way early – usually you don’t see them until July 4 – and there are only four of them. She has not seen them anyplace else. They hang around the back yard so she says good night to them every night. I told her that in Japan they are thought to be the souls of the dead, so she says “If you are Mom, Dad, Bob, and Gordon, good night.” Pretty amazing, huh?
(We buried all their ashes -- Uncle Bob, Uncle Gordon, and my grandparents -- at the family plot when I was back in Philadelphia last time.)
