Outremer

So, having become increasingly RP-starved over the past few weeks, having no alts anywhere, I finally caved and let jacobine talk me into trying out Outremer in hopes of finding a character and getting a chance to get a bit of RP in again.

It's actually got a rather nifty little original fantasy theme, and I like the swashbuckler feel to it. I took one of the pregenerated characters, and have been learning my way around the grid and learning their code. It's still a sort of smallish game, though they have about 20 people on in the evenings, which is decent-sized. The staff have been extremely friendly, and so far I've really enjoyed the experience; I'm hoping to slip young Floris d'Waymel, my character, into some roleplay this evening. :)

Still, it looks like a fun place, with both pregen and chargen available. So if you like the idea of a grand city being slowly pulled apart along three factional lines with the beginnings of what could be a civil war, as the king -- depressed over the lost of his two eldest sons a year earlier -- sinks into depression, against a backdrop of small magics and grand sword duels, with primitive firearms, you should check it out. I'm sure they could use more players!

Comments

I would but I'm so busy, I can barely keep up with the characters I do have! It's always sound fun though.
Phillippe's a good designer, and when he has time and energy to get a place running, it does pretty well. I really hope Outremer avoids the pitfalls of his previous foray.

Of course, now that I might know someone, I might have to give it a more serious look, especially since I, too, have run devoid of RP lately. :)

Re: Outremer

Hmm. Sorry to steal your comments section a moment. :) Outremer isn't run by Philippe. Err. I know I know the name, but it is neither Duke nor I. It seems to be a common thought, I think he's the one who was working on a 7S game?

We're not him though for good or bad. Sorry. Just had to clear that up.

Re: Outremer

No problem in stealing the comments section. You guys put together a really great game, with some absolutely great RPers -- I've been having a great time with Michel, Isabel, Lisette and others who really stepped forward to bring a newcomer into the action.

And yeah, I was a little confused; the only Philippe I know in connection to the game is my dreaded commanding lieutenant who keeps threatening on the faction channel to make Michel and I clean the stables. ;)

Swashbuckling game, "7th Sea," run by a Philippe. I think this must be what people are confusing Outremer with.

Google is my friend. ;)

Re: Outremer

You're lucky. He confined Vina to quarters just for nearly causing a riot and talking back to him. I mean, really. . .what sort of officer is he???

Re: Outremer

I know! He seems to object to me dueling with other members of the Company, too!

Re: Outremer

Isn't he at least your Site Wizard?

Re: Outremer

They're on Mushpark, Paul. There /is/ a swashbuckling piratical adventure MUSH hosted on the Treyvan site, called 7th Sea; I think that's what you're thinking of. At least if Philippe is the Treyvan host, as I'm thinking from the results of my earlier Google search. :)

Re: Outremer

Actually, I'm basing it on the fact that I saw Phillippe advertise it and talked to Phillippe when I gave it a first look as a guest, but I suppose I could be wrong. :)

Re: Outremer

Nope. nails, may he never run out of ice cream, is our site wiz. Philippe has been around on occasion to chat with Duke, but he's not affiliated with Outremer in any way. We're quite lucky that anyone on our game be they guest, staff, or player are uber helpful to new people. It doesn't matter why they're there we get a LOT of positive assistance from people on the game and we're entirely grateful for it. :)

Re: Outremer

Then I stand corrected (well, actually, I sit corrected, because people that stand up and do computer stuff are weird.)

Nevertheless, it still looked like a pretty good game on my first glance. I especially like the unabashed support of the "exceptional" nature of PCs it takes. :)
