Song of the GM

A friend today reminded me of The GMing Song, which I am sure anyone who's tried GM'ing has at least one experience to match.

Y'know what? Fuck it; rocks fall, everybody dies!

The opposite of this, of course, is the party that you can't get to kill ANYTHING. This has happened to at least two GM's that I know. One of them set up a nest of kobolds and wanted to run a straight dungeon crawl. The PC's, on two seperate iterations of the adventure:

1) Made a peace treaty between the kobolds and the town they were menacing

2) Decided the lair was too tough and went off to do politicking in the city

And you should talk to hlwoods about Birthright's players. It's more like 'Dungeons and Diplomats'. Ever since we ran into the parents of that one bandit that we killed, they've developed such strict rules of engagement that the GM is hard pressed to get them to hurt a mosquito without first attempting to negotiate for its surrender, capture it alive, and rehabilitate it.

This amuses me to no end.
Bwahaha! Silly PCs. Had I been that GM, the kobolds would have killed at least one of the PCs. 'Negotiate' is kobold for 'keep PCs busy while we surround them', right?
*grins* I have been both on the giving and receiving side of that song.
Steal the ferry! ;)
