[Politics?] One Of Their Own

A small, conservative Oklahoma town came out in support of a gay citizen when Fred Phelps came to town. It's an interesting story, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I suppose it gives me hope, in some ways, because it sounds like people were forced, by circumstance, to look at and evaluate him as a person rather than a label. There's also parts which make me sigh, such as the fact that they're still hoping he's 'saved,' but in all the article was an interesting read.

In lighter, unrelated news, the Boston Globe has a rather nice little op-ed article on the thirtieth anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons. Thanks to bluekitsune for the link.

The lunatic fringe exists in both parties; Fred Phelps should be on the Homeland 'no-fly' list if he isn't already.. A wacko waiting for some reason to martyr himself for Jesus.
Amazing. It's good to hear stories of people who use their faith to do good things instead of evil.

D&D: I remember D&D. I used to play... I mean, I used to buy all these books, which I would read, and then they would catch dust on the shelves at home. I think they're still doing that.
